How It Started

The Avenue is a vision created by husband and wife team, Evan and Olivia Porter. They both have roots in the Southern Illinois area, but spent time living and working in Salt Lake City, Utah.

After having had the opportunity to work alongside leading professionals in the industry, in the highest rated barbershops and salons the city had to offer, they decided to bring the experience and knowledge they had acquired back home to Southern Illinois.

In August 2017, The Avenue opened its doors in Herrin, Illinois with a team that is comprised of local professionals with outstanding skills and a wholehearted belief in our mission.

Following such success with our fresh approach to servicing our clients, in October of 2020 The Avenue opened a traditional Barbershop in Marion, Illinois. Finally and most recently, the Avenue began a build out for a newer and larger Herrin location and anticipates its completion this fall.

We are confident that our team is the most professional, educated and talented set of individuals in the Southern Illinois industry.

"I booked Olivia for my hair and Cheyenne for my Wedding makeup last weekend. The team was amazing and I loved my hair and makeup. I had so many compliments and it stayed undisturbed through tears, dancing, shots, etc all night! I looked as good at 12 as I did as 5. I was planning the wedding from out of town and they were very flexible when trying to schedule my trial. I even stopped by the shop to clean up my brows a few days before the wedding and the wax was well done with a nice shape. I wish I would have known about the Avenue sooner.
